An evening at Marina

After having successful WSHG stalls (women self help group) during shastra and saarang inside IIT campus, Saba and Prasanth wanted to a take a test at a public spot. Then Saba chose marina beach.
When Saba asked for my moral supporting presence during the sales, i was excited.(though initially i was little worrying expecting some monetary demands from the localites ).We called the SHG and told them the plan and they agreed. Then on sunday evening, Saba went to the spot along with the women of Natham SHG and started the sales with Prasanth. My self accompanied by Jayavenkatesh reached the beach around 5.30 and found the stall after some futile roaming around the beach.
Then to my joy i seen the stall doing the business with out any disturbance. But Prasanth looking little nervous(i thought) might be because this is his first experiment ,so far he was a theoretical man with marketing (He is an MBA).Though the place is good it didn’t attract much customers.Saba decided to change the location near the path way which would draw potential customers. He asked the shop owners there and they graciously accepted. So we moved the stall. Nice place for good business, but soon came a problem, One man and woman came and told that the place is their regular business place and they are paying money to local bigheads for acquiring the place.
Saba told its for one day only and they somehow convinced and left.
As jaya was in hurry I had to leave the stall at 6.30pm.Hoping Saba and Prasanth could manage till 7.30.Then next morning i was told by Saba that things went well but the business was not as good as we expected. Anyway it given us an idea about how the street market would be..
A nice experience.

flowers will bloom!!

It's been a long time since i blogged as i was busy completing my project(already one month late than the schedule).but today i was made to post something which given me deep satisfaction.
today we(IViL) completed our two day village children trip to IITM.The village children were brought frm kanyakumari, Sivaganga and Natham.
This trip happened when i was exhausted with the project and frustrated with human attitude.Anyway i decided to spent twodays and at the end there was a pleasent surprise. This time also we had lab visits and discussions with IIT profs. From mathematics department Prof.Parthasarathy came and given a lectre that was very interesting, the way in which he explained the children was simply awesome.Next came Prof.Jagdish frm electrical enginnering.First he given a lectre that was motivational, then he taken the children to all laborataries of electrical engg. dept. and taken enormous effort to make them understood everything that was going there.what a great man he is.
During the visits to lab,the technical assistants at laboraties taken much interest on the children and explained them everything.
In our visit to Planetorium,Dr Iyamperumal,Director, Scinece centre greeted the students.Noway the volunteers effort (my friends frm IITM) can b forgetten.but for us its duty, its others who made the trip a fruitful one.
At the end of the day i felt immense satisfaction that i met so many good hearts in the past two days and got hope that the same hearts will make life a meaningful one....

Great people of IITM!!

Today we, thru IVil brought village Children to IITM.Saba along with Robo organized the trip. The trip was aimed at creating awareness and enthu about IITM among village school children. We arranged some basic scintific demos and some lectres by IITM professors.Prof TS.Natarajan of physics dept and prof G.Sundrarajan from chemistry dept have consented to give lectres.Prof Natarajan's lectre was simply awesome. He explained the things in a way which reached village children beyond expectation.I really admired the interest he showed towards educating village children. Then prof Sundarajan gave a lectre in basic chemistry. His lectre was a little high.He told the story of math genius Ramanujan in an impressive way which attracted the children verymuch. Then We went to Polymer lab where Susy madam explained things about injection moulding and extrusion with much enthusiasm.I was really carried away by the interst of IITM faculty towards village children.
our sincere thanks to all of them .

Blessed moments!!

In life some moments are really blessed(In Tamil, ஆசிர்வதிக்கப்பட்ட தருணங்கள்),like laughing out frm ur heart loudly even for a small joke, sitting relaxdly in the midst of friends, starting ur MOU with the girl always u liked,(though u c her for days, eyes meet during special moments and MOU starts, soon that may flop thats different),etc...some moments are really normal, life goes smooth and some moments are really cursed,
cann't we have life filled only with blessed moments?, or is life a balance between blessed, normal and cursed moments?..............

civilisation or westernisation?

I went to spencer plaza for shopping with my friend and i spent some 3 hrs there.on seeing the varieties in every item and peoples buying capcity i really wondered.but one thing that caught my attention was the western outlook and functioning style of almost all business outlets. The playing of western music, queries in english at all customers,etc...
cannot we become world standard by folowing our own customs,values,etc..or civilisation means westernisation? Iam thinking.....

Ritchie street!!

I went to ritchie street today morning to buy a computer for my friend, many of us know the street is full of electronic shops. But one thing i observed was many of the shop owners(nearly 95%) are of north indian origin. The very few local people i noticed are coolies.while appereciating the immigrants(in an inter state sense) business skills,i really wondered about the natives business interest.they same situation at Lingi chetty st,Thambu chetty st., etc..
what could be reason? any answers...
